PRIVACY

Your reading life is yours.

What we keep

Your email address, a password hash, and the books and reading statuses you save. We do not store plaintext passwords. Bookshelves are visible only to the signed-in owner; there are no public profiles or social features.

Essential security

An essential session cookie keeps you signed in. Security counters use keyed hashes of email and network addresses and expire after one day. We do not add analytics or advertising trackers. The hosting provider may retain standard server access logs; these should exclude form contents and cookies.

Recommendations

Recommendations come from our editors’ vetted list and are sorted using book topics and featured order. Purchase links are currently hidden. We do not process payments or perform purchase-link geolocation lookups.

Book lookup

When you search or select a book, our server sends that query or book identifier to Open Library. Your email and account details are not sent. Metadata and covers are cached on our server to reduce requests. Personal book additions stay on your private shelf and are deleted when you remove them or delete your account. Open Library records can be incomplete; you can review and correct the details before saving.

Your choices

You can remove any book, sign out, or delete your account and shelf from your account. Operational backups may retain deleted data until their scheduled expiry (the deployment policy is 30 days).

Appearance

Your light or dark appearance preference is saved in this browser. It does not track your reading activity.

Offline storage

The app stores only its public styles, scripts, icons, and offline screen on your device. Authentication and private shelf pages are never stored by the service worker.
